1: How do I get product and pricing information?

2: What is the typical process for placing an order?

  1. Sketch out the perimeter of the deck showing the dimensions of the framing.
    See a railing drawing sample here. Click Here to download a Grid Sheet to draw your deck on.
  2. List the areas where the railings will run.
  3. Be sure to include: Color, Railing Style, & Railing Height.
  4. For Stair Railings please provide: Rise & Run of Steps and Total Number of Steps.
  5. Provide your Contact Information including an accurate Shipping Address.

3: To place your order:

Please sign and fax or email the Quote form. If you are paying by Credit Card, please sign and fill out the credit card authorization form and fax or email it to us with the Signed Quote. We accept all major credit cards, checks (must clear before shipment) and wire transfers.

4: How long does it take to receive my order after it is placed?

We will generate approval drawings for the customer to sign off on. Most railing orders require 2 weeks minimum to ship after the approval drawings are signed off on and received by Nexan. Orders typically ship by a common carrier freight which will be up to a 53 foot trailer. The freight company will call you 24 hours in advance to schedule delivery. It is the customers responsibility to remove the railing from the truck. The railing boxes are banded and shrink wrapped to the pallet. It is usually best to cut the shrink wrap and plastic bands and unload the boxes individually off the truck. They can typically be handled by 2 people.

All shipments are insured. Please review all packages for damage. If any damage is present, note on the Bill of Laden from the driver what is damaged noting the description, quantity, length and color. Fax or email a copy of the Bill of Laden to us and we will ship replacements promptly. Any damages not noted on the Bill of Laden are generally not covered by the insurance.

5: Will I need any other materials for installation?

Our standard railing systems come complete including hardware. Only basic hand tools are needed.

6: What railing heights are available?

Railing heights are available in either 36″ or 42″ tall. Custom heights are also available.

7: How far can I span between railing post?

The maximum span between post is 6’ for standard railings and 8’ for the Traditional line of railings.

8: What colors are available?

Our stock colors are White, Light Gray, Buckskin, Golden Clay, Burnished Slate, Black, Bronze and Silver.

9: What about custom colors?

We do offer custom colors on a limited basis. Please contact us for additional cost.

10: What are your advantages over other railing companies?

We specialize in custom building your railings for your application. Most other companies will provide you with full length materials & basic instructions so you do all the fabrication. We provide you with CAD drawings of your deck showing all materials, lengths, & locations, then we produce your railings to the drawings. A simple screw and snap together assembly!

11: Does it cost extra for the custom design?

No, we consider the custom design and CAD drawings a service any customer should receive for a project of this nature. It helps insure there are no problems with the orders placed, the materials received, and with our design recommendations it ensures you receive a railing system that will be installed correctly and safely.

Technical Information

Material: Railing components are 6005A-T65 aluminum which is about 30% stronger than typical 6063-T5 alloys.

Finish: Durable high-density polyester Powder-Coat finish. Meets AAMA 2604 standards.

UV Stable Powder Coat. No before and after color changes found with most composite deck products. Most composite products fade more in 3 months than FSI’s AAMA 2604 powder coat in 5 years.

Height: Standard heights are 36″ and 42″. Alternate heights available by request.

Cable Spacing: Standard cable spacing is 3″ inside.

Cable Components: All stainless steel cable components are 316 grade. Standard SS cables are 1/8″ in diameter and have a 1×19 braid.

Fabrication: All holes are pre-drilled for easy assembly!

Fasteners: Stainless steel fasteners are used throughout the railing assembly.

Code Compliance: Cable Railings meet national safety standards and the 2003 ICC International Building Codes. Codes do vary by city and county and is the customers responsibility to ensure the rail system will meet local codes.

Load Testing: Rails are professionally tested by an independent testing laboratory and Professional Engineers to meet international safety requirements. Typical testing requires the railings to pass 200 lb. concentrated loads, 100 lb. per linear ft. and 50 lbs in a 1 square foot area of the infill. Maintenance: Railings may be washed as needed with water and mild soap. Do not use acidic solutions, harsh solutions or abrasive cleaning materials or solutions as they could harm the finish.
